  • Thursday morning meet for the NEC crew.  Ernie Jupp’s Met Jaguar S Type and Chris Taylor’s Met Rover SD1.
  • Loaded up and lined up for the long drive to the NEC for set up day.   Long day for Phil Jacob, Chris Taylor, Steve Woodward and Ernie Jupp.

  • Better look at Chris’s Bristol City Police Morris Minor Panda and David’s ROC bomb disposal Vauxhall Omega.
  • Nice Trio of Range and Land Rovers.  To the fore Geoff Taylor’s GMP Classic  V8 followed by Jonathan Smith’s Humberside Disco and GMP P38.
  • Another view of the 3 4x4s showing the evolution of vehicle markings.
  • For those interested in the making of model replicas of Police vehicles there were some of Colin Chipperfield’s excellent work to see.
  • GMP BMW 3 Series F31 Response Unit.  One for the public to play with two-tones.
  • Part of the Police presence at the show was this firearms unit Mercedes Benz Vito II facelift van.
  • North West Police Underwater Search and Rescue Unit Mitsubishi Equipment Truck.  Unit is multi force including the Welsh Heddlu.
  • Nice to see the Royal Military Police on scene.  They arrived with their Skoda Superb II Saloon.
  • Manchester Fire and Rescue Service was also out in force with a good mix of vehicles for all to see.
  • Making up the triumvirate of main Emergency Services was the Ambulance Service.

Brooklands Museum Emergency Services Day

  • Doors are open and the unit is available for display to the public.  Lot of hard work by club members has gone into this vehicle and it shows.
  • The display unit is a tribute to a former member who passed several years ago leaving the club a fantastic legacy.  Phil Lawrence R.I.P.

  • Rare beast the Ford Ecostar Electric in Hampshire Constabulary markings from 1995.  Based at Fleet as a beat car from 1995 to 1998
  • One of only 3 built in the UK at a cost of £260,000 per unit.  Note the charging point at the front of the vehicle.
  • Powered by sodium sulphur batteries it had a top speed of 70mph and a 0-60 time of 12 seconds.
  • Weighing in at twice the weight of a standard Escort the vehicle had various modifications including the the larger tyres and the special alloys.
  • Unlike modern electric car there is just one electric motor to drive the vehicle.
  • Something different again.  This time a replic a restoration of a Portsmouth  City Police Morris dog van.  Unusual as well because of the colour.
